BRIG’s Financial Law Department, led by Humberto Iglesias is permanently updated with regulatory, economic and financial changes that affect our banking system and international markets.

We assist important banks in Panama, as well as international financial institutions, with contracts, legal paperwork, and in general attend to their legal affairs related to banking. We have participated in structuring commercial bank credits for relevant real estate projects, as well as in the day-to-day attention to the bank’s consumption and corporate areas. BRIG also advise in the preparation of financial structures as guarantee trusts, investments, administration, payments, and we provide counseling for their execution.

Banking Contracts

BRIG have a specialized Division of Banking Contracts, whose objective is to structure and document bank financing, thus becoming a close ally for the banking sector.

• Drafting, notarizing, and registering Public Deeds for residential, commercial, and corporate credits for local and international companies.

• Financing syndication, mortgage trust structuring, and guarantees in general.

Insurance

BRIG advise, review and draft texts for bonds, consulting, and attention to claims presented as a result of defaults by the client in the private sector and through public contracts; advising in claims presented as a result of policies issued for the areas of damages, health, and life; as well as providing advice for the design of health insurance plans, among others.

As support to the Department of Construction Law, the Insurance department advise in the issuance and/or claims relative to Policies for Compliance, Advances, C.A.R. (construction all risk), among others.

Capital Markets

BRIG’s team of specialists in Capital Markets provides advice regarding offers for debt and capitalization, as well as for issues regarding compliance. We also provide support to obtain Licenses for Brokerage Firms, Investment Companies, Investment Advisors, and other trading activities under Panama’s Stock Market Superintendence.

We provide advice on drafting all contracts relative to the issuance of securities, we document the issuance of guarantees, as well taking care of all paperwork required by the Stock Exchange Superintendence, to obtain authorization to issue.
